Ridwell is powered by our members.
Because of you, we can create new solutions for previously non recyclable material, we can bring wasting less to new communities, and we have already saved over 14 million pounds from the landfill.
What’s changing
This membership update ensures that we can deliver the best experience possible while also making progress toward our mission and the vision that our community shares.
Ridwell isn’t possible without you—we’re grateful to have the support of so many dedicated members who share the care for the planet and the hope that our future can be brighter.
Introducing two new service plans: Plastic Plus and Unlimited.
This means more choice, more flexibility, and more impact. These plans give exclusive access to multi-layer plastic and provide our most flexible service yet.
Our Classic plan now starts at $14 per month.
Our Classic plan now starts at $14 to support new features like choosing your own featured category!
Effective July 1st, 2023, existing memberships will be updated to reflect this change.

Our promise to you.
We make wasting less as easy and fun as possible.
Waste reduction
At Ridwell, we’re working hard to build a future where millions of households live less wastefully. It’s not about everyone doing everything perfectly, it’s the small actions like sorting your plastics, setting aside used batteries, and donating an old T-shirt.
Transparency
You should feel confident about where your stuff is going. We tell you who our partners are and how they reuse and recycle your stuff.
Perfect pickups
Ridwell pickups should be seamless. Our drivers are trained to provide the best experience possible and we take that seriously! If you ever have a problem with your pickup, let us know.
Expert support
We’re here to help you navigate the complicated and at times confusing world of waste and recycling. Our member success team is ready for your tough questions about what goes where and how best to reduce your waste.
Service evolution
We’ll never settle and always continue to add value to Ridwell. From new categories (like multi-layer plastic!) to new features (like swappable featured categories), we’re continuously looking for ways to improve your experience, because you are our hero.
Big change starts small.
We’re dedicated to building a sustainable and long-lasting company to drive forward the realization of a future without waste.
Here’s what we’re investing in.
Electric pickup fleet
Today, we save thousands of miles driven by carpooling your stuff with your neighbors and by asking you, our dedicated members, to opt in so we don’t make unnecessary stops if you don’t need us.
We still recognize that we can do better. This spring of 2023, we launched our first EV pilot in Seattle and we hope to be able to expand the number of electric vehicles and drastically reduce our environmental footprint.
Expanding accessibility
We know many people want to waste less, but the cost of membership is simply not in their budget.
We’re working hard to find ways to expand the accessibility of our service. This means:
Expanding our multi-family service to partner with property managers to provide service to their residents
Working with cities and municipalities to bring subsidized service to their residents
Partnering with like-minded non-profits and other organizations to provide subsidized or free service to underserved populations.
Commitment to our team
We’re growing a sustainable business not only for the environment, but for our team of employees who come to work each day to pick up your stuff, write emails, or answer your questions.
We are proud of building a company that our members love and we’re dedicated to continuing to foster an environment that supports every employee.
This means competitive compensation and benefits, commitment to career growth, and a stake in the company.
Innovation for the future
What started as a nights and weekends project has grown to a community over 100,000 strong. Pickups are just the beginning.
Our members are making the future possible: from pots made of your multi-layer plastic to a circularity partnership with Starbucks. We know we can go beyond pickups to offer more opportunities to reduce what goes in the landfill—by supporting thoughtful purchases, growing opportunities for reuse, and driving change in our communities.
