Help Mia keep plastic film from landfills!

Hi, I am Mia, a senior at Sequoyah School who is concerned about the climate crisis. I’m organizing a free pickup of plastic film on Sun, 1/26 from homes in 91040, with the help of Ridwell who will get it turned into composite decking. Please sign up and spread the word to neighbors so we can make our community a better and less wasteful place!

"Did you know that most people don't know what can be recycled in the blue bin? Until I did some research, I didn't know either, but I've discovered that much of what we think can be recycled through our curbside service does not actually get recycled.

- Mia, 12th grader at Sequoyah School

How it works

Collect your plastic film

This includes clean and stretchy thins plastics, none of which can be recycled curbside (see all the details here). Collect it in a plastic bag (which will also be recycled!).

Leave it on your porch

On pickup day, just leave your bag on your porch (or another visible spot) by 8 am and label it “Ridwell.” Mia will come pick it up and bring it to Ridwell!

We’ll make sure your stuff gets recycled

Rather than spend 5,000 years in a landfill, Ridwell’s partner will give your plastic film new life as composite decking!

Let’s clean up 91040!
