The Carryall Bag

Created from your outerwear

Thirteen million tons of textile waste are created every year. Only 1% is recycled.

Ridwell members know even “worn out” clothes aren’t really trash. Outerwear is engineered to last, so the material is perfect for reuse. You saved 9100 pounds of jackets with imperfections like rips from the landfill and they’ve been transformed into this Ridwell-exclusive bag.

Roomy patchwork bags in one-of-a-kind color combinations

Ridwell exclusive by Refleece, created using 9100 pounds of outerwear picked up from members in May

The story behind your bag

Pickup

After a special outerwear pickup, we donated the items that could be worn again to local organizations and sent the rest to Refleece in Boston.

Prep

Refleece washed and diecut each piece to collect all of the usable fabric. Next, they saved the zippers, buttons, and snaps to reuse.

Production

Finally, Refleece sewed together pieces of multiple jackets, creating roomy patchwork bags just for you to use for years to come.

On a mission to zero waste

REFLEECE

Husband-and-wife team Sam Palmer and Jennifer Feller met working at Patagonia and started Refleece in 2012 as a way to use all the fleece jackets that piled up around their home.
With backgrounds in product design and sustainable organization management, these innovators are the perfect team to create great new products from materials with lots of life left in them.
