An estimated 10 million bicycle inner tubes end up in US landfills every year, where they can take hundreds of years to break down.

Making new tubes takes petroleum-based rubber and adds to greenhouse gas emissions.

Ridwell members coast to coast have kept more than 7,700 pounds of tire tubes out of the trash. Some of them went to Green Guru, our Boulder, Colorado–based partner, who has been turning old tubes into durable bike bags, wallets, and travel kits for more than 20 years.
