The Ski Earrings
All time member favorite – Sold out two years in a row
Millions of skis are disposed of every year and they’re virtually impossible to recycle because the layers are so well stuck together. While the ski industry is working on sustainable production and material options, creative makers have taken to reimagining skis into new things. We’ve seen benches and chairs, tables, wine racks, firewood holders, lamps—and these fun earrings, which were made using skis from a Denver pickup that supplied more than 500 pairs.

The story behind the goods
Pickup
Skis are super-difficult to recycle, so we picked them up from members in Colorado and sent them to our Denver-based partner, Après Ski.
Prep
Heather Mullins of Après Skis prepped your skis and used them to hand craft pairs of her most popular earring, the Powderhound.
Production
With each pair of earrings, Heather honors the ski’s design, maintaining the original colors and pattern.
Colorado native Heather Mullins is a Denver based artist, educator, and advocate of hands-on learning and sustainability. She creates designs based on the existing capabilities of her chosen materials and first started making ski earrings when she saw the potential in scraps left over after making skis into furniture.
