TWO DEDICATED STREAMS

To provide the most planet-friendly, transparent solutions possible, we did a deep dive into the nuanced challenges of textile reuse and recycling, and vetted new partners who prioritize domestic reuse and recycling.

REWEARABLES

Maximizing Reuse

From closet cleanups, kids’ growth spurts, or retiring some old favorites, we’re adding a new, bigger bag for your preloved clothes, shoes, and accessories.

Our partner, Cycla, prioritizes local reuse, making sure that your reusable clothes find a new home and stay out of the landfill. Plus the bag gets recycled!

RECYCLABLES

Creating fresh fibers

Whether they’re socks with more holes than fabric, worn-out t-shirts, or towels that have seen better days, these textiles aren't trash just yet.

Our new partners Phoenix Fibers and Leigh Fibers work magic on fatigued fabrics, transforming them into insulation and other useful fibers, saving the energy and resources required to make them from scratch.

How it works:

Rewearables: Gently used items you’d give to a friend

We heard your requests for a bigger bag! Use it for clothes, shoes, and accessories. If you’d give it to a friend, it goes here.

Continue to use your threads bag for things like socks, blankets, and clothes you wouldn’t give to a friend. Not in great shape? It goes here!

Recyclables: Past-their-prime items that are ready to shred

KNOW WHAT GOES WHERE

A few items don’t belong in either bag: dirty or damaged shoes, shoe boxes, and reusable bags. Reuse in home as much as possible, then put in your curbside bins.

THE VERDICT IS IN!

— Kate, member in Los Angeles

“The problem I have with donation companies is that I don’t really know where it is going. That’s not as issue with Ridwell!”

— Charlene, member in Los Angeles

“Whenever I buy something new, I clean out a little bit and use the Ridwell bags.”

— Debi, member in the Bay Area

Reusing or recycling just 10 pounds of clothing is equivalent to taking a car off the road for an entire week.
