Your stuff did this! November spotlight

Ridwell members gave back in a big way this November! We’re constantly blown away by our members’ generosity, and we’re so thankful for all the good that we’re able to do together. November was packed with giving goodness, including one of our favorite seasonal featured categories: Halloween candy!

Let’s take a look at all the awesome stuff that was possible thanks to you:

Birthday Dreams

SEATTLE + BELLINGHAM

Members in Seattle and Bellingham joined forces to collect a whopping 6,600 pounds (wowza!) of Halloween candy, which will now get to be a sweet treat for those in need. Our partner, Birthday Dreams, is dedicated to bringing joy to homeless children through the gift of a birthday party. They’ll use the candy they received from Ridwell members to help make kids’ special days extra sweet! Some of the candy also went to Union Gospel Mission, and will help brighten the day of people experiencing food insecurity.

Birch Community Services

PORTLAND

The Halloween candy goodness didn’t stop there. Portland members also collected over 2,900 pounds of Halloween candy for our partner, Birch Community Services! BCS provides support to Oregonians who are living paycheck to paycheck. Each week they provide food to 600 families, as well as distributing food to 70 other nonprofit organizations across the Portland Metro area. Thanks to Ridwell members, this vital support just got a bit sweeter!

Lion’s Club of Denver

DENVER

Last month, Ridwell members in Denver donated 150 pounds of eyeglasses, sunglasses, and hearing aids for our partner, Lion’s Club of Denver. Approximately 75% of people use some form of vision correction, and approximately 1 in 8 adults in the United States has hearing loss, but sadly eyeglasses and hearing aids can be costly. Lion’s Club of Denver cleans and sorts the glasses, which are then made available to organizations who provide eyeglasses to underserved populations. They also work with The Marion Downs Center, a local Denver nonprofit organization, to get hearing aids reconditioned and distributed to those who need them.
