Get to know, Stephanie, Ridwell’s first Driver in Austin!
The work we do helping Austinites waste less can only happen because of our incredibly hard-working team. Case-in-point: Stephanie Diaz, the very first driver to join the team in Austin when we launched in February of 2022. We interviewed Stephanie so you could get to know her and see why she is such a special part of the Ridwell team.
What's your favorite part of working at Ridwell?I like the friendly environment and my team. I feel like people care about me and that my work is genuinely valued. I feel like I’m making a difference for the environment, and working at Ridwell has inspired me to improve my own lifestyle and habits to be more sustainable too.
What's something you've learned about wasting less through your role? I’ve learned how abundant plastic film is and that it can be recycled.
Who is one of your favorite Austin organizations that we partner with? My favorite local partner of ours is Foundation Communities. They’ve given me and my family a lot, including a safe, beautiful, and affordable community for me and my daughter to live. I’m excited to be able to give back to them as one of our upcoming featured category partners. It feels like we are a part of a cycle of giving!
What’s a fun fact about you? My dad has been the cook at The County Line on the lake for 30 years! When I go there, I get the brisket sandwich and chopped sausage with lots of BBQ sauce!
Could you share a little about what your ideal day off looks like? What activities are you doing? What music are you listening to? What are you eating? I love taking my daughter, Emily, to the park or the pool. I listen to a lot of Los Adolescentes, a salsa band from Venezuela, which my mother listened to growing up. My favorite foods are pozole & mole.
