Tips on preparing Batteries for pickup
When it comes to batteries, safety first!
Mixing batteries with other materials, like plastic film or clamshells—whether in a Ridwell bag or your curbside bin—can create safety risks, including potential fires. Simply keeping batteries separate from other materials helps keep everyone safe and ensure your batteries are recycled responsibly.

Why we might not take batteries in your area
At Ridwell, our mission is to make wasting less easy, especially for those tricky items not accepted in your city’s curbside recycling program.
That’s why we’re thrilled when cities take steps to expand their curbside recycling program! When an item we used to collect, like batteries, becomes part of your city’s curbside program, we work hand-in-hand with city and county officials to transition those items out of our service. These changes allow us to focus on other hard-to-recycle materials while you benefit from expanded local options.
For more information about safety preparations and your city’s curbside battery recycling program, we encourage you to visit and review your city or county’s recycling guidelines.
Together, we’re making a difference—one battery at a time!
